Polish fans witnessed their team get hammered
It was murder in Murcia this Tuesday as a lackadaisical Spain side smashed Poland for six while barely moving out of second gear. The 6-0 defeat was Poland’s heaviest loss in fifty years, since a 7-1 drubbing by the Soviet Union in 1960.
Before the match the Spanish newspapers had spoken of how the Poles had been lined up for target practice prior to the World Cup, leaving some in Poland bristling at the perceived insult. After the match, all that was left was the realisation that Poland are closer to San Marino than Spain in football’s pecking order.
