The future of LOT Polish airlines could be a Turkish one, after the chief executive of Turkish Airlines expressed an interest in buying the troubled Polish flag carrier.

Quoted in the newspaper Rzeczpospolita, Temel Kotil said that he would like to buy LOT, which is still state owned with the government holding a 93 percent stake.

“I’d like to buy LOT, although no final decision has been made. I know LOT is undergoing restructuring, so one will have to wait a while. But there’s room for consolidation in the region and I have no intention of letting such an opportunity pass,” Mr Kotil is quoted as saying.
