14 out of the 16 regions in the country, 554,000 hectares of land were awash in 2,157 towns
Following the double round of floods that have paralysed large parts of Poland over the last month, the situation on Poland’s rivers has finally stabilised and people are able to begin clearing up and counting the cost. Tomasz Sienionak, a junior home office minister, reported to parliament that, “As a result of the flooding, which affected 14 out of the 16 regions in the country, 554,000 hectares of land were awash in 2,157 towns. A total of 660 among the nearly 2,500 districts across the country were affected, and that figure could still rise.” He added that a total of 1,400 large businesses were adversely affected by the disaster.
