Polish GROM troops were able to rescue the two hostages
A Polish GROM unit helped save the lives of two Afghan police officers who had been kidnapped and were being held hostage by members of the Taliban.
By collaborating with other units, the Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno-Manewrowego (or ‘Operational Mobile Reaction Group’), which is deployed in special operations such as counter-terrorism, was able to locate the two officers and lead them to safety.
The hostages, both in their early 20s, had spent 15 days tied up and chained to walls in a number of hidden locations. As well as being beaten by their captors, they were told that they would soon be killed.
