The 2012 tournament will help boost the country's economy
The 2012 European football championship should boost Poland’s GDP growth, and provide additional stimulus to the economy.
According to a report by PL.2012, the state-owned company overseeing preparations for the football festival, the tournament, which Poland will co-host with Ukraine, should increase GDP by 2.1 percent, compared to 2009, when spread over the years 2008 to 2020.
The report says owing to the football, cumulated GDP growth could amount to PLN 27.9 bln as money pours into the country as it gets ready to host one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
