In the entire period of the Premier league, not a single Pole has ever scored (though Arsenal’s dodgy keeper Fabianski has several assists).
I must be jinxed; whichever team I support loses. The recent World Cup was a disaster for England and was blessed by the absence of my other team, Poland. Yet little Uruguay, with a population of 3.5 million, made it to the semi-finals.
It must take a special brand of incompetence to take a nation of forty million, with all sorts of successful, talented athletes, and fail to produce even a single footballer of note, goalkeepers aside, for over twenty years.
