Casinos have been hit
The investigation into alleged lobbying involving high-ranking government officials in creation of a new gambling bill was wrapped up when the committee accepted a final report, which stated that no illegal activities took place. However, the proceedings may have done more damage than expected.
According to Dziennik Gazety Prawnej, during the investigation, not only did casinos lose, but so too did the national budget, as gambling activities dropped by almost half in certain casinos.
The ministry expected gambling to bring in 2010 PLN 1.57 bln, - PLN 210 mln less than in the previous year. However, the newspaper wrote that in the first quarter of this year, Poles spent 20 percent less ...
