Poland's champions are out of the Champions League
Poland’s Champions League hate affair continued this week with the sadly predictable elimination of Lech Poznan in the third qualifying round by the might of Sparta Prague. You could make excuses about the holes in the pitch, the echoing stands devoid of support in an uncompleted stadium, a referee that was pernickety to the point of insanity, crazy decisions and sendings off, but it would all be pointless. Lech Poznan were simply not good enough, and never got close to competing with a limited Czech side that themselves will probably not make it to the Champions league proper. The Polish Champions are that bad.
