Hundreds of Poznan residents turned out this Saturday evening, despite pouring rain, to witness the unusual sight of an historic brick gateway swinging through the air, as it was being moved to make way for the road development leading to Poznan’s Lawica airport.
The operation lasted several hours, as cranes lifted the ancient structure onto new foundations which had been prepared a few metres away. The gateway was once part of the Edwardowo estate, leading into the courtyard and stables. Now, though, it had to make way for the modernisation of Ulica Bukowska.
