The Olewnik mystery deepens
The family of kidnap and murder victim Krzysztof Olewnik are set for a show down with the police in an effort to solve one of the great remaining mysteries of the case.
They want to know how the police managed to lose the trail of the kidnappers when the victim’s sister, Danuta Olewnik-Cieplinska, threw a bag containing a ransom of EUR 300,000 off a Warsaw bridge in 2003.
Despite the presence of eight undercover officers who the family believed were watching the drop, the kidnappers managed to pick up the bag and disappear. Despite the ransom payment Krzysztof Olewnik was never released and his body was found in 2006.
