Poland registered a 'dramatic win'
The opening of the Ergo Arena on the border of Gdansk and Sopot went better than anyone could have expected, with the Polish volleyball team registering a dramatic win over reigning world champions Brazil for the first time in eight years. The atmosphere in the hall was electric, with 11,000 enthusiastic fans shaking the building to its foundations.
Poland began strongly, winning the first two sets before the Brazilians got into gear and pulled level. The tie-break was a nail-biting affair which the Poles eventually won 20-18 and the match by three sets to two.
