The Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) put an end to speculation this week and announced that it would not be supporting Krakow’s President Jacek Majchrowski in his bid to get re-elected, and will instead be putting forward their own candidate. The move is thought to be payback for the incumbent’s repeated attempts to distance himself from the party.However, the colourful Euro MP Joanna Seneszyn is not expected to line up against him, with the party turning instead to local heavyweight Kazimierz Chrzanowski. While Seneszyn has a much higher profile nationally, local officials feel the MP hasn’t been involved enough in the region.
