Finally there was some good news for Polish teams in Europe as Lech Poznan, the last team standing, managed to secure their place in the Europa League, guaranteeing European matches at least until the end of December. Later today Lech’s name will be going into the pot along with 46 others and could soon face mouthwatering ties against the likes of Liverpool, Man City or Atletico Madrid, depending on the draw.
Lech went into last night’s tie with a slender one goal lead, crucially an away goal, gleaned from their battling victory last week in Ukraine. A storm was expected from the Dnipro players, and it duly arrived, the Ukrainian side going very close in the first twenty minutes.
