A 58-year-old woman from Polkowice plummeted three floors down a lift shaft after the outer doors opened despite the lift car being on another floor. “She was chatting with her daughter, and must have thought the light in the cabin was broken,” commented one eye-witness. She was taken to hospital in a serious condition suffering from multiple fractures but her life is not in danger.

The building administrator suspects that the lift door blocking mechanism was deliberately vandalised, as not only on the third floor, but also on the eighth and eleventh floors, the outer doors opened freely.
