Poland’s Finance Ministry has drawn up new legislation which may allow tax inspectors to carry truncheons and tasers.

The new proposals are have been drafted in order to aid inspectors when confronted with aggressive non-tax payers.

Other devices which the law would allow them to arm themselves with are handcuffs, tear gas and rubber bullets.

“Tax controllers will be able to adopt a tool to a given situation, but, what’s more important, they will use firearms only as a last resort,” said a spokesperson from the Finance Ministry. ...
