The national team is recruiting more foreigners such as Boenisch
The Polish FA is continuing its active policy towards attracting foreign-born players with Polish ancestry to play for the national team. First came Ludovic Obraniak and new recruit Sebastian Boenisch (now ruled out for the next six months following a knee injury he picked up whilst playing for Werder Bremen last weekend). Now the FA have turned their sights onto the Sochaux centre back Damien Perquis.
“He’s an excellent defender. He could still improve the technical side of his game, but what defender couldn’t?” enthused Smuda. “He’s confirmed he wants to play for Poland and if he can sort out all the formalities, he should improve the team,” continued the coach.
