Poland will withdraw its troops from Afghanistan no later than 2014 said Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski earlier this week.

The news came after a meeting in Warsaw with governor of the southern Ghazni province, Musa Khan.

“That’s the deadline for the Polish mission in Afghanistan, unless our province [Ghazni] is not ready to transfer power to Afghan authorities,” said Sikorski.

There are currently around 2,600 Polish soldiers based in Afghanistan.
