Polish children are getting benefits from UK
Approximately 40,000 children living in Poland are receiving British welfare benefits.
The benefits, which are legal according to EU law, are being claimed by Polish parents working in the UK, who have left children in their home country.
“With Britain facing a debt crisis [...] it beggars belief that the country is continuing to send millions of pounds of taxpayers' money to children who don’t even live in this country,” Conservative MP Philip Hammond told the Daily Telegraph.
A child in Poland can expect to receive around PLN 800 per year in benefits in Poland - a lowly figure compared to the average of PLN 5,400 handed out by the British government.
