"...the appearance of the same man on two cameras is extremely suspicious."
Detectives are following up a new lead in the case of Iwona Wieczorek, the 19-year-old who went missing in Gdansk on July 17 this year. Close examination of CCTV evidence has led private investigator Krzysztof Rutkowski to identify a man in light bermuda shorts who appears twice, on different cameras, about an hour apart.
The first appearance shows the man at 3.07am in Sopot speaking on a mobile phone as Iwona crosses the road to the promenade where she was last seen some two minutes behind her. It’s possible the man was observing her. Then he appears again at 4.12am in Gdansk, this time ahead of Iwona, loitering near one of the pathways leading from the promenade to the beach.
