A 102-year-old great-great-grandmother has shocked her friends and neighbours with high-tech talk and Skype conference calls.

Wiktoria Wawszczak of Katowice has survived two World Wars and had a number of back-breaking jobs such as a crop harvester and coal miner, but refuses to let her old age get the better of her.

With a large family consisting of eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren spread around the globe, keeping in touch was not always easy. Until that is, she decided to invest in a computer and get online.
