The latest crisis in Poland’s health service renewed tensions between President Lech Kaczyński and Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s cabinet this week and left the new government facing its first major test in the eyes of public opinion. New EU regulations limiting the number of hours doctors can work, as well as battles over conditions, have hit hospitals hard, with media reporting temporary closures and even clinic evacuations.
