The new legislation should put an end to Poland's police force faking sick days
The interior ministry is preparing changes to the regulations governing sick leave for policeman after it emerged that large numbers of police officers were calling in sick every day.
Figures from the ministry show that officers from Poland’s 90,000-strong police force were taking around 192,000 sick days a month.
“Currently, every day about 6,000 police officers do not to turn up for work owing to illness,” said Malgorzata Wozniak, a spokeswoman for the interior ministry.
