Boruc's mistake cost his team
Two of Poland’s top goalkeepers experienced widely fluctuating fortunes this week, Arsenal’s Fabianski going from zero to hero, Fiorentina’s Artur Boruc committing a ghastly blunder as his team lost to Roma. Fabianski was man of the match in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Wolves this Wednesday. Deep into injury time the Polish keeper made a stunning save, low to his left at full stretch.
It went some way to atoning for Fabianski’s flappy cock-up at the weekend when Arsenal lost 1-0 at home to Newcastle. Fabianski came weakly for a free kick floated into the area, and Andy Carroll took full advantage, leaping in front of him to knock it into the empty net.
