New evidence may shed light on Papala's killer
The case of the unsolved murder of Poland’s top policeman took another twist after prosecutors announced that a new witness was prepared to testify.
Former gangster Piotr K., otherwise known as ‘The Beard’, has said that two previously unknown gangsters were involved in the high-profile 1998 murder of General Marek Papala.
“I can confirm that Piotr K. has become a crown witness and has given evidence in our investigation into the assassination of General Papala,” said Jaroslaw Schubert, spokesman for the Lodz prosecutor’s office.
He added the evidence had given police new lines of enquiry.
