Poland could lose around EUR 1.25 bln
Poland faces losing up to PLN 5.5 bln due to a deadlock in talks over next year’s EU budget.
The problem has apparently arisen from Britain, the Netherlands and Sweden refusing to talk further on future tax and EU spending policies, despite demands by the European Parliament.
If no agreement can be reached then each part of the budget looks set to be managed on a ‘provisional twelfth’, which, as stated in the Lisbon Treaty, means “funded up to a maximum of one twelfth of it appropriations in 2010”.
