Alcohol was allegedly offered for votes
Fifteen people were detained in the Lubuskie village of Lubiszyn, accused of buying votes with vodka and other spirits.
One of the accused, Deputy Mayor Daniel N. who entered the second round of elections with 33 percent support, was reportedly released after a payment of PLN 5,000.
“The elections are underway yes, but my husband would not shoot himself in the foot like this. He is not that stupid,” commented his wife Aneta.
If the allegations are confirmed, the first round will have to be held again and those charged may face between three months to five years in prison. ...
