Buyers can expect to pay 20 percent more for their trees
Poles looking to decorate their homes over the festive period have been warned that Christmas tree prices may rocket by as much as 20 percent this year.
The increase is due to a large number of trees being exported abroad, where sellers are able to receive a higher price.
“Many in the business will take their goods abroad this year, so demand will be higher,” explains seller Pawel Wocjcik. “Growing is a time-consuming and expensive business and we receive no subsidies for the land.”
Despite prices only rising from an average PLN 100 to PLN 120, daily Fakt reports that 2010 will see a lot more Polish homes replace traditional trees with artificial ones. ...
