Despite their league position, Lech have fared well in the Europe League
Lech Poznan ran out 1-0 winners over Red Bull Salzburg in Austria this Thursday evening in an eventful match. Before the match Lech’s manager, Jose Maria Bakero, had called for a change in the mentality of his team, “We have to stop dividing matches into important ones and less important ones,” he insisted.
This was a reference to the team’s Jekyll and Hyde performances this season. In Europe, they can hold their own with giants such as Juventus and Manchester City, but in the Polish league they have only recently managed to claw their way out of the relegation zone and still lie eleventh, eleven points off the top.
