The IPN has accused Turowski of lying
A senior Polish diplomat in Moscow has quit amid allegations that he spied for Poland’s communist-era secret services.
Tomasz Turowski, who held the post of titular ambassador at the Polish embassy in the Russian capital, handed in his notice after the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) accused him of lying during his vetting process.
Marcin Bosacki, spokesman for foreign minister Radek Sikorski, said that the minister has accepted the resignation, which takes place with immediate effect despite the diplomat, apparently, being one of Mr Sikorski’s most trusted advisors on Polish-Russian relations.
