Biedronka's failure to extend union members' contracts have sparked protests
Members of the Solidarity Trade Union picketed this week over the issue of employment contracts at supermarket chain Biedronka.
According to reports on TVN, the dispute arose after employees at the store who belong to the union were not offered extended contracts at the end of 2010.
“Solidarity fought for free trade unions but we must also fight for freedoms within the union. We will make every effort to ensure that there is no more discrimination against employees on the grounds of membership,” said Alfred Bujara, head of Solidarity’s trade branch.
