Police in the southern town of Tarnów have arrested an arsonist from a nearby village who wanted to be a fireman.

Police in the southern town of Tarnów have arrested an arsonist from a nearby village who wanted to be a fireman. The 20-year-old burnt down barns so that he could help put them out again afterwards, the Małopolska police department spokesman told journalists. The man's grandfather, father and brothers all are or had been voluntary firemen and the young shop worker harboured dreams of the same vocation. This had led him first to set light to rubbish bins and grass containers, after which he would call the emergency number. He would also make bogus alarm call ...
