Tomasz C. was attacked with machetes such as this one
Football hooliganism returned to the headlines after the savage murder of a fan by a gang of machete-wielding men.
The man, known only as Tomasz C. and a supporter of the Cracovia football club, was first chased and then attacked a group of people believed to be linked in some way to great city rivals Wisla Krakow.
After cornering the victim they then launched a savage attack on the man, who later died on his way to hospital from horrific injuries that apparently left him unrecognisable.
It was thought that as many as 20 were involved in the killing.
