The wine has been a roaring success in Poland
Sales of a new Portuguese wine have gone through the roof due to its name sounding like a particularly bad word in the Polish language.
The wine, ‘Curva Douro’ shares its pronunciation with the word ‘Kurwa’ - a word that most people would not use in front of their grandparents.
“There has been an overwhelming demand with customers buying it in crates,” said off-licence owner Wiktor Zmuda.
“At PLN 50 a bottle, it’s more than people would normally pay, but the comedy value apparently makes it worth it.”
