Lenin's statue could soon be back in place
A village in the south of Poland is considering remounting an old statue of Lenin in an attempt to increase tourism.
Councillors in Poronin are desperate to attract more visitors and wheeling out the statue, which at one time proudly overlooked the sleepy village, is one idea currently being discussed.
“There is not much going on here at the moment,” says councillor Anna Malacin. “Tourists are becoming increasingly rarer and rarer and Poronin has fallen deep into a winter slumber. We are seriously considering resurrecting Lenin to help us.”
