A leading politician from the governing party was pilloried from all sides after he criticised the prospect of gay men getting married but he would “gladly watch lesbians”.

In an embarrassing blow to Civic Platform (PO), MP Robert Wegrzyn said “you can forget about gay men but I would gladly watch lesbians” in response to a question on live television about whether he approved of homosexual marriages.

The quip produced a furious response as both friends and foes alike lined up to take pot shots at the beleaguered politician.
