Poland tops Europe's vodka charts
Despite a recent drop in sales, Poland continues to be the largest producer of vodka in the EU says a new report.
According to Leszek Wiwala, president of the Polish Spirits Industry, the total market in Poland is worth an estimated PLN 13.4 bln.
There are as many as 265 different companies in Poland operating and distributing on the market and a total of 136 manufacturers producing a whopping 3.2 mln hectolitres of spirits - 85 percent of which is vodka.
But tastes have changed over the years says Wiwala, who points out that today’s generation is more likely to quench its thirst with a beer as oppose to the more traditional way.
