As few as 44 percent of Poles read a book last year
A new report by the National Library suggests that over half of Poles did not read a single book during 2010.
According to the study, as few as 44 percent of Poles picked up a book - more however than in 2009 when the figure dropped to a record 38 percent.
But it seems Poland is not the worst in Europe. In France and the Czech Republic, reading figures currently stand at around 34 percent.
“The downwards trend has stopped and reading rates are beginning to rise,” says one author of the report. ...
