Former Priest Quits Church

Former priest Tomasz Węcławski, a leading philosopher and former dean of theology at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, has confirmed that he officially left the Church in December, local daily Głos Wielkopolski reported this week. In recent years Węcławski was instrumental in bringing about the resignation of two Polish bishops. In 2002 he brought to light accusations of sexual abuse by former Poznań bishop Juliusz Paetz.
