A 1-0 win was enough to keep the Lech masses happy

The Polish football league is still deep in hibernation – looking at the conditions for Thursday night’s Europa League encounter between Lech Poznan and Sporting Braga, it made perfect sense. An orange ball, pitch markings swept clear of snow and flurries of the white stuff falling throughout the encounter, it didn’t make for a great match. It was hard to tell whether Poznan would suffer more from match rustiness, or Braga from thermal shock. This stage of European competition is a traditional graveyard for Polish sides which are frequently not up to pace, as the Polish season has been out of action for three months.
