Zabka stores sold

The well-known Polish store has now been bought by Mid Europa Partners
Poland’s Zabka chain has been taken over by private equity investment firm Mid Europa Partners for an as-yet unspecified amount.
According to TVN24, owners Penta Investments has signed a deal with the firm, despite rumours that it was on the verge of securing a deal with UK retail giant Tesco.
While there have been no details released regarding the cost of the deal, estimates suggest that the Zabka stores are worth somewhere in the region of EUR 400 mln.
In December 2010, Tesco acquired the Czech Zabka chains from Penta Investments and it was widely assumed that the British firm would be first in line to take over the Polish network.
