The friction between Balcerowicz and Rostowski regarding pensions has made the headlines
The architect of Poland’s post-communist economy and the finance minister have exchanged verbal blows in a bruising battle over government plans to reform the pension system.
Adding sparkle to the grey and sober world of economics, Leszek Balcerowicz, credited by many as piloting Poland from economic basket-case to thriving capitalist economy, has tussled with Jacek Rostowski, the current finance minister, over the reforms.
Mr Balcerowicz lambasted the programme that proposes transferring more money from the private open-ended pension funds into the state social security system, claiming that it would reduce growth and harm future pensions.
