Jaruzelski will not be attending the event
General Wojciech Jaruzelski has confirmed that he will not be flying to the Vatican for the upcoming beatification of the late Pope John Paul II.
The topic of Jaruzelski attending the event, which takes place on May 1, has been the source of serious debate, with many believing that it would not be appropriate for the former Communist leader to go.
Speaking to news agency PAP, Mr Jaruzelski said the decision was made in order to avoid creating “a pretext for yet more sensationalistic information and tendentious interpretation”. ...
