Sikorski’s comments have stoked the ames of the US-Poland Holocaust slagging match
Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has accused the United States of failing to help the Jews during the Holocaust, in a fiery response to US criticism of the Polish government’s decision to shelve plans to compensate Jews who had their property confiscated under communism.
Rebuffing comments from Stuart Eizenstat, a special advisor to Hilary Clinton, expressing Washington’s disappointment with Warsaw’s move, Mr Sikorski said the US knew about the peril of the Jews through Jan Karski, a Polish official who produced evidence of the Holocaust.
