The EURO 2012 tournament should see record profits according to UEFA
European football’s main governing body UEFA has predicted record profits for its 2011-2012 financial year - a period which includes the upcoming EURO 2012 competition.
The organisation stressed that while the years containing a EURO tournament usually provide “substantial revenue”, the financial years that fall either side generally end in the red.
But according to Chief Financial Officer Joseph Koller, UEFA expects the money earned during Poland and Ukraine’s hosting of the competition to overshadow any previous efforts, and beat the EURO 2008, held in Austria and Switzerland, by over 3 percent.
