Thousands of Poles are returning home while claiming UK benefits
Thousands of Polish workers who have returned home from Britain after losing their jobs are still claiming UK benefits it has been revealed.
According to Gazeta Prawna, more than 5,000 Poles have come back to their home country although many are still claiming up to PLN 700 from the British government.
“They have to be registered as unemployed in their host country and then register again when they come home but they continue to be paid benefits as if they were still living in the country they worked in,” explained one official.
