Poland prepares to go nuclear

The country is gearing itself up for the next big nuclear step
New reports by Polski Radio state that this summer will see an international tender awarded to a company which can supply all the technical know-how for Poland’s first nuclear power plant.
The reports claim the decision, which is rumoured to be worth somewhere in the region of PLN 40 bln, will be announced by state-owned power company Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) - which the government has handed responsibility to.
According to TVN, Westinghouse, GE-Hitachi and Areva all consider themselves in the running.
