Nation Mourns 20 Dead Airmen

President Lech Kaczyński declared a three-day national period of mourning on Thursday, after 20 Polish Air Force men were killed in a plane crash in the north-west of Poland late on Jan. 23. Parliament held a minute of silence for the dead and Prime Minister Donald Tusk rushed to the site to talk with relatives and take charge of an initial investigation.

All on board were killed when the CASA C-295 military transport aircraft crashed on approach to an airfield near the town of Mirosławiec.
