The beasts are being sent to Hungary to breed
A group of female bison is to be transported from Poland to Hungary - for the sole purpose of reproduction.
According to reports on TVN24, the beasts are set to leave their home in the eastern Forrest of Bialowieza to breed with their Hungarian cousins as part of a restoration programme aimed at boosting numbers.
In total, four bison will find themselves shipped to the southern village of Liso where they will birth a series of offspring to help restore Europe’s bison population.
“The reason behind this project is to help spread figures throughout European countries,” says Zdzislaw Szkiruc, Director of Bialowieza’s National Park.
