The International Labour Day demonstrations are now being moved to Szczecin
International Labour Day, a popular annual demonstration amongst left-wing movements, will not take place in Warsaw this year.
Two reasons have been given for the decision; the demonstrations will clash with a religious parade to mark the beatification of John Paul II, and the fact that the march is to be moved to the northern city of Szczecin.
“We’re moving with the times,” said Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) spokesman Tomasz Kalita in Gazeta Wyborcza.
“In Paris and London the left wing now demonstrates in the place of deteriorating work sites. We’re merely following in their footsteps.” ...
