Scenes witnessed after the Cup Final demonstrate stories of hooliganism being under control are a myth
Donald Tusk threatened football clubs with the prospect of playing games behind closed doors after running battles between police and hooligans marred the Polish Cup Final.
Not mincing his words the prime minister called for urgent action to deal with crowd violence.
“Together with police and local authorities we have decided that events will take place without fans present if the police say they are unable to guarantee safety,” he told a press conference held in the wake of rioting between Legia Warszawa and Lech Poznan fans at the Cup Final played in Bydgoszcz this Tuesday.
